Meet the Management Team
Miguel Payla
Founder & Managing Director
Miguel brings a rich history of 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry, grounded in strong expertise across operations, sales, and marketing. His career foundation includes 5 years in hotel operations and a remarkable 12 years dedicated to hotel Sales & Marketing with brands like; Shangri-la, Accor, Dusit, and Fairmont.
His significant exposure to the M.I.C.E. (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) segment spans over a decade. He structured the first proactive Groups Team at Fairmont Dubai and served as the inaugural Area Director of M.I.C.E. and Groups for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, U.A.E. He also held a key role as Assistant Director of Sales for M.I.C.E. and Leisure at Dusit Thani Dubai.
Miguel launched his hospitality career with Shangri-la, gaining crucial experience across both Front Office Operations and Sales & Marketing. Although he possesses vast M.I.C.E. expertise, he maintains a strong personal passion for designing premium, tailor-made programs for individual travelers (FITs), ensuring every guest receives the best possible travel experience.
Having been based in Dubai for 21 years, Miguel has witnessed firsthand the city’s evolution into a leading global destination for both leisure and business. Complementing his deep Dubai expertise, he currently divides his time between the Philippines, where he personally heads the team giving him a unique, invaluable perspective for both destinations V&C is managing.
On a personal note, Miguel loves to discover places, and fact is, he has been to more than 80 countries and still aiming to travel more.
Jorge Fonseca
Managing Partner
Administration & Ground Operations
Jorge has a truly distinct professional background, originally trained as an Engineer. He built an impressive career with several multinational engineering and construction firms, including Siemens, France’s VINCI, and Canada’s Lavalin. Notably, he was part of the core team responsible for constructing the monumental Dubai Mall.
After his successful career in construction, Jorge recognized a compelling passion for tourism and the “concept of destination.” Like Miguel, he is an enormous admirer of Dubai and holds vast, invaluable knowledge of the Philippines. He is our resident expert—a “walking Google” who can provide precise history, facts, and figures for both destinations. His strong technical and organizational skills translate directly into a strategic asset for program management.
Jorge has been a resident of Dubai for eighteen years and regularly travels to the Philippines, maintaining his deep bilateral market knowledge. Furthermore, he is a fluent multilinguist: his mother tongue is Portuguese, and he is also proficient in Italian, Spanish, and French, in addition to English. This language proficiency is essential for managing international partners and guests, defining his global strength within the organization.
Alfonso Martínez
Venue & Concept Philippines Partner and
BeWorld owner and CEO
Alfonso is the founder of BeWorld, established in 2008. He is a highly accomplished executive who brings an extensive international experience of over 30 years in luxury hospitality and strategic development.
His career features leadership roles within major multinational hotel groups, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, ITT Sheraton, and CIGA Hotels International. He has held key positions at iconic properties such as the Palace of Madrid, the Alfonso XIII, and the Marqués de Riscal.
Beyond operations, Alfonso has worked on numerous high-profile development projects and the strategic positioning of both hotels and entire tourist destinations. His expertise extends to major global collaborations, having partnered with international media releases from studios such as Warner Bros., Fox International, and Paramount.
Alfonso holds strong academic foundations, having graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid. He furthered his education by receiving an E-MBA from the University of Delaware (USA) and a qualification from the Swiss School of Tourism & Hospitality (HTW Chur).
